These beautiful berries will go to those who normally don’t have access to such a treat.
After the Harvest partners with a really generous farmer near St. Joseph who gives a lot of excess produce to feed hungry folks in the area.
We have a pressing project this Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon…prepping blackberry bushes for the season (pretty simple stuff: push broom leaves down the hill between rows, remove leaves and weeds). This prep will allow for a great harvest and since this is a rare treat for those in need, this project is a special one.
Can you sign up, come out to the farm and help out this Saturday, June 6? If you can’t, can you suggest someone who can help? Organization, church or other?
Upcoming weekly need in St. Jo.
Because this farmer provides so much produce, we’ll have an ongoing need for gleaners in the St. Jo area to harvest (maybe 2-3 hours per week). Do you know of an organization, church, or individuals who would help take this on weekly or every other week or monthly and deliver to food banks/pantries to feed those in need? We’re putting together a planning meeting so let Sandy know if you can join us.
Sign up your group to glean!
It’s now easier than ever for your organization to help us feed hungry people. There are lots of dates available to sign up, so reserve your date, bring your group together and join us in a gleaning this season.
Please contact Sandy if you have questions about reserving a date.
From all of us here at After the Harvest, thanks for your help and support!
