Sign up for spinach gleaning, blackberry bush clean-up and veggie planting next week

This season, it’s easy to view After the Harvest gleaning events and then sign up online to volunteer.

As specific gleanings pop up this season, we’ll be posting them on our events page and sending you e-mail alerts like this one to keep you updated on what’s happening.

You can also look for “produce gleaning” postings, which indicate dates in the future when we know we’ll be gleaning, but don’t yet know what will be ready to harvest and on which farm. We’ll let you know via e-mail before your gleaning. Signing up for “produce gleanings” gives volunteers (especially groups) a longer time frame to plan.

Sign up your group to glean!
It’s now easier than ever for your group to help us feed hungry people. Only the organization leader needs to sign up for the gleaning and provide group name, description, where traveling from to get to the gleaning, and the ages of your volunteers. Then we’ll contact you to finalize the details.

Check out the updated gleaning FAQs for this season.

Come help us next week
Monday, June 1, 7:30-10:30 a.m.–Gleaning spinach at a farm near Platte City.

Tuesday, June 2, 9 a.m.-noonish–Planting veggies at a farm near KCK. We help this generous farmer plant and he gives us the veggies to deliver to pantries. He’s been sick, so he’s late in planting…can you join us?

Saturday, June 6, 9 a.m.-noon–Blackberry bush clean-up at a farm near St. Joseph. We’ll glean these beauties later…but we need to help this great farmer now to prep for the growing season.
