Share the Abundance | Giving Tuesday Match Week

Hi. I’m Randy Burdge. I am reaching out to friends and supporters of After the Harvest to invite you to join me in supporting After the Harvest on Giving Tuesday. In fact, I’m challenging you to be a part of something big: Join me in supporting ATH by helping to match my $10,000 gift on Giving Tuesday.

When I started volunteering for After the Harvest in 2014, I had no idea that I would be sending this message to you today. I had no idea I would be board president for a nonprofit with such an important role in our community. I had just retired and was looking for ways to give back when I connected with ATH – a gleaning organization that was helping to give people access to good, nutritious food. Preventing the waste of nourishing food and giving struggling families an opportunity to eat well – it’s work that really makes a difference.

Now, eight years later, I’m still volunteering nearly five days a week, helping to distribute produce to partner agencies that get it out into the community. I have had the privilege of watching the delight on people’s faces as they receive bags of fresh fruits and vegetables. They talk about how much good the food will do for them and their families. These aren’t just metrics – these are real people, 1.2 million people in Missouri and Kansas just like you and me, who need our help. Together, we can provide a half a million servings of fresh fruits and vegetables for hungry people in our community.
