Project Description

Liberty Disaster Relief in Liberty, Mo., is a key Pantry Partner of After the Harvest.

Liberty Disaster Relief, an outreach arm of the Church of Liberty, is a clearinghouse for area residents affected by disaster. The agency has a clothes closet, food pantry, ministry houses, and a host of other services and information. The clothes closet and food pantry are at 1114 Southview Drive, Building E in the Liberty Bell Industrial Park.

Liberty Disaster Relief was founded by Doug Perry and two other local business leaders in the wake of hurricane Katrina as a fund to collect local resources to help in that disaster. Soon after, it became apparent that there was an ongoing need to meet other little local “disasters” affecting individuals in the area.

The agency estimates that it fed more than 4,000 people a month in 2012 and has distributed about 4 million pounds of food in the Northland in the past eight years. It has also given away donated furniture, housewares, linens, beds, toys, bicycles, appliances and even several cars.
