Black Friday and Cyber Monday have come and gone…so today, we take a deep, cleansing breath (see, it feels pretty good, doesn’t it?) and celebrate something with a little higher purpose: the national day of giving: Giving Tuesday
Dec. 2 is the day set aside for giving back this holiday season. Consider three easy ways you can make a difference in the lives of families who need nutritious food:
1. Make an online donation today to After the Harvest, providing healthy food for hungry people. Just go to the top of this page and click on the donate button. $1 provides 50 servings of mashed potatoes.
2. Share your Gift of Gleaning Stories.
3. Plan to glean in the spring! Call or text Karin to schedule your date-(816) 853-4460.
The Gift of Gleaning Stories
“Gleaning for After the Harvest has been such an invaluable learning experience for our whole family. It feeds the soul to nourish the hungry with fresh local food. I love introducing my children to these local farmers that grow healthy food and the true reward is to bring this food to pantries the very same day to provide a nourishing meal for those in need.”—Julie Arnold
“When I started gleaning for fresh produce, I worked at a soup kitchen and I saw first hand that the guys there, even though homeless, really wanted to take care of themselves by eating food that was good for them.”—Sandy DeAtley.
