Staking tomatoes at a farm near St. Joseph MO

We do the work now, the fresh veggies go to feed hungry families later in the season

We’ll be staking our tomatoes which will produce 1,000s of tomatoes to feed people in need. To make the deal sweeter, the farmer will give you 1-gallon tomato plants with ½ pound tomatoes already on the vines to take home and plant. They will be ripe in 2 weeks! Sign up online or call Sandy as usual.

We’ll e-mail you info before your date
We’ll e-mail you the farm address and Field Supervisor contact information before your gleaning as well as notice of delay or cancellation due to bad weather. If the gleaning event listing says “produce” gleaning, instead of, say, “apple” gleaning, that means we’ll be gleaning, but don’t yet know what will be ready to harvest. We’ll let you know via e-mail before gleaning.

Waiver Form, Volunteer Gleaning FAQs
When you sign up, you’ll see a Waiver Form to download—print, complete and bring to your gleaning. And you’ll see the Volunteer Gleaning FAQs to download, read and share. Or go here to check out FAQs.  Contact us with your additional questions:  Sandy Vivian–sandy@aftertheharvestkc.org or 816-550-5631.

Note to Organization Leaders
Only the leader should sign up and tell us about your group: organization name and description, where you are traveling from to get to the gleaning, and the ages of your volunteers (how many projected 0-6, 7-12, 13-18, 19+ years?).  If you’re projecting more volunteers than indicated, sign up anyway and we’ll contact you. We may be able to accommodate a larger number or a different date or time.  Download and send Waiver Form and Volunteer Gleaning FAQs to your volunteers.  Send instructions to print, complete Waiver Form; bring to the gleaning.
