Field Supervisor training: Can you give four hours a month? @ After the Harvest office inside Harvesters building

Field Supervisors are the backbone of our volunteer gleanings…sometimes we have produce to glean and volunteers but no supervisor so they’re essential to helping us get fresh fruits and vegetables to those who need it. Can you spare four hours or so a month?

If you are interested in being a Field Supervisor this year, please register here and attend the training session Saturday, May 9, 11 a.m. to noon at our offices inside Harvesters (3801 Topping Ave., KCMO).

Program Director Karin Page is looking for 30 people who can work one day (or more if you wish) per month, and be on call that one morning each month, from June to November, Mon-Sat mornings in the summer with later start times in the fall.

How you would help:

· On gleaning day, usually at 7 a.m., meet with the farmer who’ll show you what and how to harvest.

· Then supervise the gleaning for about three hours–overseeing, engaging and teaching groups of volunteer kids, youth and adults–always assuring safety rules and farmer instructions are followed.

· Record pounds gleaned and then you and the volunteers deliver the produce to assigned food banks or pantries.
