Boy howdy, do we need help! LOTS of gleaning going on and we could do more if we had more field supervisors. Please consider leading gleanings. I can train you! And now for the upcoming gleanings this week.

  • Monday August 18th, 8:30 am - 11:30 a.m. Cucumbers and Tomatoes in Odessa, Missouri. This is a new farm for us. 20 people would be great! Please come help - and please bring whatever boxes you have for tomatoes, plastic bags for cucumbers.
  • Tuesday, August 19th, 8:30 am - 11:30 Apples in Smithville, Missouri. 3 trees, all the apples - 4 people could do this. Bring plastic bags (like the grocery bags you recycle at HyVee).
  • Tuesday, August 19, 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Peaches in Kansas City, Kansas. 10 people would be great. Bring boxes.
  • Wednesday,, August 20, 8:30 am -11:30 a.m. Corn and Tomatoes in Lone Jack, Missouri. This is a huge field. 20 people would not be too many. Bring boxes. We’ll have bags for the corn.
  • Thursday, August 21, 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Apples - Independence. 20 people would be great. Bring plastic bags.
  • Friday, August 22, 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 p.m. - Apples or peaches in Kansas City, Kansas. Depends on where we are needed most.
  • Saturday, August 23. 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Asian Pears in Conception Junction, Missouri. This is a bit of a drive, but really beautiful scenery along the way. And there’s a lovely picnic area to boot. Our farmer, his wife and son are super nice and pick the pears right along with us. They donate EVERY pear in the grove. We will be here for the next 4 weeks getting the different varieties of Asian Pears as they ripen. Bring bags. I also need a field supervisor for this.
  • Saturday, August 23, 8:30 - 12:30 p.m. Potatoes in Wellsville, Kansas. Please bring a potato digging fork (if you have one). 15 people would be great! Bring plastic bags. Perfect gleaning for children! Adults can turn the dirt over and kids can pick the potatoes out of the dirt and bag them.
