We’re hitting two different farms in KCK this Thursday for apples. The season has begun in earnest!
Wednesday, August 17, 7:30-10:30 a.m.–Gleaning blackberries at a farm near St. Joseph, MO We keep saying that “this is the last blackberry gleaning”…but the berries just keep coming and the farmer keeps giving! Help rescue these berries for food pantries in the area. Only 45 min. from North KC.
Thursday, August 18, 7:30-10:30 a.m.–Gleaning apples at two farms in Kansas City, KS We only have a few signed up right now and we need more volunteers to glean apples that will rot if not rescued. Thanks so much for joining us at one of these orchards if you can!
Sign up now if you can help. Or contact Sandy (firstname.lastname@example.org or (816) 921-1903)…she’ll sign you up!
…Or, check out more weekday dates in Aug./Sept.: Sign up now for future gleanings. We really need volunteers for these upcoming dates: Aug. 23, 25 and a morning and afternoon gleaning on Sept. 1. We don’t yet know what will be ready to harvest on which farm within 30-45 minutes of KC. We’ll let you know via e-mail before your gleaning. Signing up for “produce gleanings” gives you (individuals and families and especially group leaders) longer to plan and helps us so very much.
Contact Sandy if you want to help on one of these ATH committees:
- 2017 Event–It’s a big, fun, fundraiser…meet new friends and make a difference. We’re just now forming committees so you’ll get in on the ground floor of the planning.
- Or…how about becoming a Yambassador and speaking to community groups about After the Harvest?
