From Executive Director Lisa Ousley:

All it takes is a little help from our friends. Last year, After the Harvest provided more than 5 million pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables for hungry families, children and seniors in our community. In 2019, we’ve been challenged to reach 6 million pounds. We think we can do it, and here’s how …

We can start right away. All of us can participate in Giving Tuesday on November 27!

Let me explain. Just a few years ago, Giving Tuesday was launched – a day of charity after three big days of consumption: Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday. That year, in 2014, charities raised $14 million. Last year, donors from all over the country gave nearly half a billion dollars to support hundreds of charities. That’s real growth, and we want to do that, too!

This year, we’re getting a head start on Giving Tuesday and targeting an ambitious goal – $40,000. That’s 1,320,000 servings of fresh produce. We’re launching a new campaign, and planning some fun and exciting events, including donor and volunteer recognition.

We hope that you will be able to donate to After the Harvest for Giving Tuesday. Gifts can be made online, in cash, checks, appreciated securities, donor-advised fund, or even your IRA. If you need more information about any of these ways of giving, call us at (816) 921-1903.

Thanks for considering Giving Tuesday and After the Harvest. We can do great things together. Together we can help our hungry neighbors sit down to a table with fresh nutritious fruits and vegetables this holiday season.
